Acrylic Baths

Typical acrylic bath

For many people choosing their bath is an afterthought and this is a pity because once the bath has been installed it really is too late to change it without going to a considerable amount of trouble and of course expense!

Approximately 65% of baths sold at Cannadines are manufactured of acrylic and for many people this cost effective and practical material satisfies all of their requirements.

Baths, like people, are not all the same shape or size so when choosing take into account the space available and how it will be used. Is it intended for just bathing or will it be used as a shower as well, and do you like the water up to your chin? There are available some very deep baths and we will be happy to point them out to you. If you intend to use the bath for showering and you intend to use a shower screen make sure the bath is suitable, as not all are, of course we would not sell a bath and shower screen that are not compatible but it is good that you are made aware.

Nice Carron Bath

The most common and standard size of bath is 170x70cm and this can be purchased from as little as 110.00 inc vat. It may be useful to know that the imperial size of a bath was 5 feet and 6 inches which converts to 168.5cm. In most instances extending you bath by 1.5cm will not cause a problem even if you bath is installed wall to wall, however, if owing to exceptional circumstances you do not have the additional space we can still obtain a bath in the old imperial dimensions; 5 feet 6 inches (168.5cm)

Acrylic baths are warm to the touch and can be moulded into interesting or practical shapes such as a shower bath, free standing roll top, or even a corner bath. Generally you will find acrylic baths are considerably less expensive then steel, especially with the larger sizes; quite simply the manufacturing process is much less costly. With acrylic sheet the gloss is cast all the way through which means that scratches can easily be polished out, and in fact, even quite deep scratches can be removed with metal polish and a lot of hard work. If you have a scratched acrylic bath and you need advice on how best to try and remove it then give as a call on 01273 607681 and we will be happy to explain.

Tap holes are now in most instances left to the installer to drill which presents no problems and allows more choice of not only the position but will also allow you to choose between a two hole fitting or perhaps the single hole option. In our showroom you will see a large selection of acrylic baths including the very popular double ended bath (with a gentle slope at both ends) and dedicated shower baths of rectangular and the classic P shape. As you will have gathered there is a huge choice.

Do ensure you take the dimensions of your bathroom before visiting us so take advantage of the space available to have installed the bath that is most suited to your needs, we look forward to you visit.
